My primary use is running brad nailers and staple guns. I'd like to be able to run my air tools away from the garage without dragging around my big 20 gallon compressor or running long hoses.I tried one from a company that specializes in CHeap. That one was light, but the noise level was unbearable and the refill rate was incredibly slow, so the ears took a real beating. I returned that one and went looking for something better. The DeWalt 55141 fills the bill. The noise level is tolerable. No, it's not whisper quiet, but I don't fear permanent hearing loss by standing next to it while it runs. It also fills to 150 psi quickly, so what noise there is is over soon. I don't have a way to test it, but the speed of recharge is enough to make me believe the rating 1.7 SCFM at 100 psi.The shipping weight was listed at around 30 lb. This unit is easy to pick up, and there's nothing sticking out that can get damaged. It comes with two outlets, already equipped with standard female quick disconnects. Mine didn't come with any of the "accessories" that commonly come bundled with compressors, but that doesn't seem much of a loss as those components are usually low quality and I have them already.I tried a leakdown test after initial setup. I charged it until it shut off (at 150 psi) and let it sit. Within 30 minutes the pressure was down to 135 psi, but it held that pressure for three days without dropping at all. The initial pressure reduction is readily explainable by cooling of the charge, so I can say that it doesn't leak. My only complaint is that the regulator is a bit stiff, harder to turn than seems reasonable for such a device. All in all, this is a good compressor for the intended use. It's about twice the price of the CHeap one, but well worth the difference. This is going to become my standard compressor. The big unit can go because I rarely need more volume than the 55141 can deliver.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful.Very portable small air compressorBy rainmanAfter much consideration, I ordered the Dewalt D55141R. Adequate air delivery, good reputation (for reliability), not too noisy, at least 135 psi air (so it doesn't have to cycle all the time), and most important, not too heavy (31 lbs or so) were all criteria for me, and this unit has the package! My only disappoinment was the condition of the unit- obvioulsy used, with scratches, etc.,and a drywall dust covering on parts that could have easily been cleaned off, had someone taken the time. It works fine, however, so I am satisfied with my choice. This unit is very portable, which was important for me.Oh- it also has a ball valve tank drain, which is good!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.Read about refurbished compressorBy Jason WagnerI got this compressor factory refurbished from Hardware Sales, Inc. The price was great even with shipping. The compressor arrived in great cosmetic condition (looked new). I followed the directions and did a 15 minute break in period with the valve open. I then shut it and let it build up to full pressure. The motor seems to labor toward the end, but it was fine. I used the compressor for some test nails then emptied the tank. Two days later the compressor would not turn on...it didn't even make a sound. Hardware Sales was helpful, but suggested I take it to a local repair place instead of them sending me another one. So now it's been in the shop for more than two weeks waiting for Dewalt to send out the part that needs replaced. It will be covered by warranty, but just be aware that your refurbished (in Mexico) compressor might not be around for a while when you first get it. Luckily I don't "need" it right now or I'd be more upset. I still saved about $70 and paid no tax.See all 6 customer reviews...
