Ideal for construction, renovation, and home improvement projects, the DC551KA from DEWALT has the power and speed to handle a wide range of materials, from ceramic tile to drywall. Its compact design, 26,000 RPM operating speed, and 14.4-volt Ni-Cad battery offer reliable, user-friendly performance job after job. Dust won't slow down performance or compromise durability, thanks to a dust seal on the switch, and an adjustable guide ensures precision. The DC551KA comes with a one-hour charger, two 14.4-volt batteries, 1/4- and 1/8-inch collets, one drywall bit, one general purpose bit, and a kit box.The DEWALT DC551KA 14.4-volt Spiral Saw combines high-speed cutting with cordless convenience in one compact, versatile tool. Designed primarily as a drywall cut-out tool, it provides the fastest, most accurate way to cut holes in drywall for electrical outlets, wall switches, ceiling-fan boxes, and recessed lighting. But that’s only part of what this contractor-grade tool can do. It’s also useful for cutting holes in: plywood cabinet backs for running plumbing pipes and electrical cables; acoustical ceiling tile for installing sprinklers, smoke detectors and recessed lighting; and in light-gauge, nonferrous metal, such as air-conditioning and heating ducts. And with a special carbide burr bit, it’ll even slice through glazed ceramic tile, plaster, fiber-cement board, and stucco. The DC551KA is powered by an 18-volt battery, which drives the spiral-cut bit at 26,000 RPM. The tool accepts both 1/8 and 1/4 inch bits, and features a quick-change bit mechanism that doesn’t require a wrench. Its permanently sealed switch keeps out dust and dirt for extended switch life. The DC551KA Heavy-Duty Cordless Spiral Saw comes with two 14.4-volt XRP NiCad batteries, a one-hour charger, two collets (1/8 and 1/4 inch), one drywall bit, one general-purpose bit, and a plastic storage case. And, it’s backed by a DEWALT 90-day money-back guarantee, full one-year service contract, and three-year limited warranty.

This is very handy tool like the keyless chuck no need to search for wrench. A great buy like the tool and charger were free with purchase of 2 batterys. 79.00 each at H depot0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.Handy tool to haveBy Sal G.This type of cut-out tool is very versatile. They are great for cutting all sorts of materials: wood, sheetrock, plaster, tile, etc.. This is the perfect tool for cutting plaster ceilings or walls. I bought the carbide bit for this job. It cuts smoothly with none of the vibration you get with a reciprocating saw that causes the plaster to crack and fall out in chunks.I like the fact that this tool uses DeWalt's XRP 14.4 volt batteries so you can mix and match with other DeWalt 14.4 volt tools. The XRP's are contractor grade batteries that have a much higher amp output than most standard batteries which gives them much longer run-time between charges. A big bonus here is that it comes with two batteries, so you can always have one charged up and ready to go!I have used Roto-Zip brand cut-out tools in the past: a 110 volt corded model, and a 12 volt cordless model. The DeWalt has as much power as the corded Roto-Zip, which is great for any cordless vs corded tool comparison. It's much heavier though, and more bulky at the battery end. Compared to the cordless Roto-Zip, it will do a lot more cutting on a single charge and it has a lot more power. Again, the DeWalt is heavier and bulkier than the Roto-Zip, but the difference is not as stark as with the corded model. Pro's: Plenty of power, great battery life, wide variety of bits available to cut many different materials, easy changing of bits. DeWalt tools last forever!Cons: It's noisy, but so are all of these cut-out tools. It's a little heavy for this type of tool and the design makes it bottom-heavy. You'll get a definite arm workout if your using this tool overhead! Overall, I love this tool as a cordless option. If I didn't need it to be cordless, there are corded options that might be a little more manageable and nimble to use. I'm happy with it, and I now have 2 more batteries to mix into my rotation with my other 14.4 volt DeWalt tools.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.Great ValueBy Philip A. HayesI purchased this tool because I needed new batteries for my cordless drill. The cut-out tool came with two batteries and a charger and cost considerably less than buying just two batteries. I haven't had an opportunity to use the tool yet, but it looks to be very well made, and will be a very useful addition to my toolbox.See all 5 customer reviews...
