I thought the impact driver was a cool extra but didn't have a specific job for it. Then we had a 40' x 110' steal barn to put up and that little driver out performed the full size XRP drills. The only surprise was when it ran the battery down the first time. The operator thought it had broke because it worked fine on the last screw and the next it wouldn't turn on. Was just a dead battery. Switched and away we went.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.Awesome!By T. ReichartWorth every penny. These are great! Very light and lots of power. Batteries: The batteries last for awhile and as long as they are not in constant use you'll never run them both down at the same time since it only takes 30min to charge them. You would not believe how incredibly light the batteries are! I may purchase the full Lithium-ion battery since these are so light, it can't be that much heavier and will last longer; although it takes an hour to charge. Can't hurt to have 3 batteries to power more tools and for when I am working with a partner. Note: When battery is dead, it just stops working. There is never a slow down on the tool so it catches you by surprise.Drill: 2 Speeds plenty of power. Don't know when I would ever need a drill with more power, and if I did, I would just use my wired heavy duty hammer drill. I think the hammer function on the drill is supposed to only be used on masonry and concrete, but I have found it useful when you are on a ladder or drilling over your head and can't get enough force behind the drill. I've heard others use the hammer function for driving screws; supposedly works like the impact driver but haven't tested it since I have the impact driver. Impact Driver: Driver is so light with lots of power. I would recommend getting an extension or a long bit for those tight places and always keep it on hand. I was a little worried that it would be hard to control how far the screw drives into things, but the impact function only kicks in once there is enough resistance on the rotation and the impact function actually seems to reduce the rpm. Impact driver works great for drilling as well. Its similar to the hammer function on the drill, creates more force to drill without as much fatigue on user. So far no bits broken or stripped, I'm not even using the impact driver ready ones yet either. Both drivers also have LED lights to illuminate where u are working that come on when you press the trigger; thought the LEDs were unnecessary but they are actually quite helpful. I recommend getting the Dewalt drill holster as well.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.DriverBy P. ArcherGreat product. the driver is awesome.
