Make the DEWALT DC527 18 Volt NiCad Fluorescent Area Light the first light you reach for in the dark. The 13 watt fluorescent bulb lights up for a work area for hours on a single charge without getting warm and the "twist-and-lock" lens cover allows efficient and simple bulb changes. It’s light weight with a stable base and easy to hang from its pull-out hook. Use it with your DEWALT 18 volt batteries in any place you need a bright, portable light. The DEWALT DC527 18-volt Area Light is built to take the rough handling of a professional jobsite. Inside the rugged, resilient, dust-and-dirt resistant housing is a 13-watt fluorescent bulb that shines bright, but runs much cooler than other types of bulbs found on the job site. In fact, this light has become a favorite with a wide range of trades people, including carpenters, plumbers, electricians, HVAC contractors, millwrights, and marine and automobile mechanics. It is a tool you’ll appreciate when working in small, cramped spaces, such as attics, crawlspaces, closets and under decks and porches. The light runs on any 18-volt DeWalt battery, and will provide about 3-1/2 hours of illumination on a single charge. It features an over-molded lens cover that you can twist off for easy bulb changes; no tools required and a pre-heat circuit, which helps eliminate blackening that often occurs around the base of fluorescent bulbs. The light will stand on its own for hands-free working, but it also has a telescoping, 360-degree swivel hook for hanging from an overhead pipe, wire, joist or other object up to 2 inches thick. Also, built into the light is a unique pre-heat circuit that prevents blackening that often occurs around the base of fluorescent bulbs. The DC527 18-volt Area Light is backed by a DEWALT 90-day money-back guarantee, full one-year service contract, and three-year limited warranty. Battery and charger are sold separately.Placed on a worktable or hung from its pull-out hook, DeWalt's Fluorescent Area Light is one versatile lighting device. The hook rotates a full 360 degrees, so there's no fighting the thing to get just the right angle. An over-molded lens cover makes this lighting device jobsite tough. And, a 13-watt fluorescent bulb provides bright area lighting that lasts. More great features: A twist-and-lock lens cover allows quick and easy bulb changes; a pre-heat circuit eliminates blackening at the base of the bulb, and, powered by DeWalt's 18-volt battery system (sold separately), the unit offers plenty of stability and burn time from charge to charge. From worksite to campsite, you can't beat this handy lighting system.

I have used the gooseneck light for years. Since I have a plethora of 18 volt batteries from other tools in the series, it makes sense for me to use this for lighting as well. The gooseneck does a better job for task specific lighting like under a sink or peering between studs. I use this one to provide overall lighting where the power is completely out in a room or space, and it isn't worth bringing in power cords from elsewhere or setting up a generator. This augments my gooseneck nicely.I have used this light for three weeks doing rewiring. Do not purchase it and use it as your ONLY light source in a totally dark location. The incandescent models will fade and dim when the battery voltage drops. This fluorescent will stop suddenly with no warning when the voltage goes below what the electronics need to drive the lamp. For safety's sake, use it to augment other lighting.16 of 17 people found the following review helpful.Really BrightBy JimI bought this thinking it would just be good for lighting a room or area, but it's great for lighting under the hood of the car or working under the kitchen sink. It's brighter than I expected. It stands up on the battery as a base or hangs on the hook. So far, I like everything about it. One thing to remember, it doesn't fade like an incandescent light, but goes off completely when the battery runs out.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful.Just Fine.By JD-BoilerUpI would for sure reccomend getting the 18v flexible dewalt light rather than this. The flexible light can wrap around a 2x4 or tree limb, or can simply set on the ground and point to where you want it to. The flourescent does give off a better light, the flexible light is half the price and still very bright.See all 70 customer reviews...
