Harness the power and efficiency of pneumatic nailing with the DeWalt DC616K Heavy-Duty 16 Gauge Straight Finish Nailer Kit. Designed to work with DeWalt's extended run XRP 18-volt batteries, this nailer provides fast, consistent nail penetration in both soft and hard materials. You can select sequential operating mode to ensure precision placement of each nail or a bump operating mode that allows you to harness top speed. A unique engine design allows this tool to work as fast as you do, firing up to four or five nails a second for increased productivity. And at just 8.5 pounds, this tool is lightweight for easy maneuvering and reduced operator fatigue. Whatever you're working on, you'll appreciate the little details that separate this intuitively designed tool from similar nailers. Integrated LED lights make it easy to ensure accuracy. An easy-to-operate contract trip lock-off disables the trigger when the tool is not in use for improved safety. The nosepiece is easy to access and clear tool-free if a nail jam occurs. And a six-position dial makes it simple to move between several applications without stopping to re-acquire exact depth settings, saving you time. Additionally, the straight, rear-load magazine is easy to handle for quick refills, and it will accept any standard 16 gauge nails. Included in this kit is a one-hour charger, an 18-volt XRP battery, a reversible belt hook that accommodates right- and left-handed workers, a no-mar tip, safety glasses, and a kit box for easy storage. The DEWALT DeWalt DC616K Cordless Finish Nailer combines the precision of hand nailing with the speed and ease of pneumatic nailing. With this one compact, portable tool, you can drive nails ranging in length from 1-1/4 to 2-1/2 inch as rapidly as five nails per second. And best of all: no compressor to buy and no air hose to drag around. The 8.5-lb. tool is powered by a rechargeable 18-volt battery and shoots readily available 16-gauge finish nails. Its straight, rear-load magazine holds 110 nails, and is specially designed to seal out dust and debris that can cause the nailer to malfunction. The DC616K can fire nails through softwood, hardwood, and plywood and other sheet goods. It’s an ideal tool for trim carpenters, cabinetmakers, and others who routinely install baseboard, shoe, crown and chair rail moldings, paneling, hardwood flooring, staircases, and window and door casings and jambs. The tool’s narrow, tapered nose fits into tight spaces, such as under toe kicks and inside of cabinets. Choose between two operating modes: Sequential for precise one-at-a-time nailing, or high-speed Bump firing for rapid production work. Other features include: precise depth-control mechanism, swing-open nosepiece for clearing jams, safety contact lock-off that disables the trigger, a no-mar tip, and a reversible belt hook. The DC616K 18-Volt 16-Gauge Finish Nailer Kit comes with an 18-volt XRP NiCad battery, one-hour charger, reversible belt hook, safety glasses, and plastic storage case. It’s backed by a DEWALT 90-day money-back guarantee, and three-year limited warranty, and two-year service contract on the XRP battery.

How many times I lugged my sixty pound (at least) compressor up three flights of stairs to do crown moulding in one bedroom, I can't say. No longer. When I received my nail gun I was working on a job where I was using an air nailer, but I just had to take the new tool to see how it did. I'm telling you, this tool is really heavy and a bit awkward. It is also fully up to the job of nailing stick after stick of 16 gauge 2" finish nails. If it is convenient for me to have a compressor and hose on hand, my Bostitch magnesium finish nailer is super light, powerful and well balanced- a delight. So for those smaller jobs where lugging a compressor just isn't worth it, I love this tool. Will it replace an air nailer? No way. If I had the opportunity to try one of these out before I bought it I might have gone for the older 14volt model to save a pound (this one is 8-1/2 pounds)not to mention save $90. For me, I'd rather have a lighter nailer, perhaps two batteries, and swap out batteries if I really got to a large quantity of nailing. Someday a company will come out with a cordless finish nailer under 5 pounds, and I'd drop this one instantly. Until then, though, I love my new cordless nailer. I haven't had it long enough to know how long the battery will last, but since it didn't come with two batteries I get nervous about heading to the job without a fresh charge, I don't know how this will affect battery performance by not letting it ever run down. To me, many tools don't need the super powerful batteries and their associated weight- my perfectly adequate Makita cordless drill has a 12v battery and feels like a toy after hefting this tool, although to be fair the Dewalt DC616K XRP is heavy even without the battery in. So I guess it's a love/hate thing I've got going with this tool- it's the best but I want better. Am I glad I bought it? Yes. Would I buy it again? Yes, or maybe check out the older 14v model first.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.Just about as good as it gets peopleBy vivitronI am an "advanced" amateur, basically building my last three houses (along with lots of other stuff). This thing is probably my most favorite tool, and very versatile for framing and trim work. The straight galvanized nails are quite cheap and easy to find, with every brand I have tried working just fine. The available lengths cover a wide variety of applications. Will probably shoot 500 or more nails on a single charge. Easy depth adjustment and sinks the longest nails easily into tough pressure treated wood. Have not had any problems getting into tight places (supposedly the angled version would be better for tight spots, but I have never needed it, and I use this thing a lot). Solid construction, I don't baby this thing (of course I don't abuse it either). Hangs from its belt loop well. You might want to consider the angled version (which seems to be cheaper than this one is right now), but I have never felt the need for it and the angled nails are quite a bit more expensive. I have no problems with the weight of this tool and I am only 150 pounds (below average size). Rarely get jams, and they are easily and quickly cleared with no tools. Quick and easy to use, works well, reliable, nails are economical to use, no air hoses to drag around, no compressor to listen to. Not much to criticize, but I guess Dewalt could lower their price some, but this is a very, very good tool. And finish nails can be used in a lot more places than I originally would of thought.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.good gun but short lifeBy Peter J. PattenThis gun is great, except for the short life span. I've gone through five of the guns over the last 2 years. I install base board in track housing, so hose free is almost necessity. I did the math and they shoot about 100,000 nails before they wear out, which could last a life time for some. My batteries are all worn out and its time to switch to a pneumatic hitachi.See all 10 customer reviews...
