DEWALT’s popular DC901KL has earned a reputation as one of the most powerful, versatile and toughest cordless drills ever made. Specifically designed to meet the demands of professional contractors, it can handle virtually any hole-drilling, screw-driving job. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re working with wood, steel, plastic, or even concrete. The DC901KL is driven by a 36-volt lithium-ion battery, which produces an astonishing 750 unit watts out of raw power. The three-speed, variable-speed motor lets you choose the ideal speed for the job at hand: low (0-400 RPM), medium (0-1,200 RPM), and high (0-1,600 RPM). And when you need to drill through concrete, stone, brick and other masonry materials, simply switch to the hammer-drill mode. The DC901KL uses both bit rotation and concussive blows to blast through the hardest, most abrasive materials. The tool delivers 0-6,800 blows per m-inch (BPM) on low, 0-20,400 BPM on medium, and an impressive 0-27,200 BPM on high. Other features include: a -1/2 -inch self-tightening chuck that automatically tightens throughout operation to eliminate bit slippage, 22 slip-clutch settings for precise screw driving, all-metal transmission for smooth and reliable power transfer, 360-degree rotating side handle, and anti-slip comfort grip. So, whether you’re power-driving fat lag screws through a deck ledger board, or blasting holes into a poured-concrete foundation, this tool won’t let you down. The DC901KL 36-volt Cordless Hammerdrill/Drill-Driver comes with two 36-volt lithium-ion batteries, one-hour charger, adjustable side handle, and storage case. (Each battery can be recharged up to 2,000 times.) And it’s backed by DEWALT’s three-year limited warranty, 90-day money-back guarantee, and one-year free service contract.

I can drill 1-1/4" holes through wall studs all day long without recharging the battery. It also works well on cast iron and stainless steel. I broke 2 bit shanks (about 1/4" dia) due to the torque. Use extensions with care because there is more than enough power to break the extensions before the drill stops itself. Also, users need to watch out because the drill will rotate due to the high torque if the bit gets hung up on a nail or knot. I sprained my wrist when I let my attention stray and the drill almost twisted out of my hand. The electronics are pretty good at stopping the drill before it gets damaged. Haven't found the hammer feature too useful and wish it had a battery level gauge. You still need a smaller drill, but this heavy-duty drill will handle the any of the tough jobs. Dewalt's 36v line is expensive, but you can find some great deals on their reconditioned tools like I did. I gave it 4 stars because of the high cost, lack of a battery level gauge, and no work light.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.PowerhouseBy BMonster drill!!! Has as much power as an electric drill, but without the wires. Torque to spare. Lighter than expected. Sounds Awesome. This drill is not for everyone though. Because of the huge battery, it can be quite cumbersome at times. Do notbuy this if it is going to be your only drill. This is a specialty drill that should be reserved for high torque applications, where it's extreme power is needed. Also, it expensive!! So unless you need that kind of power, or you just have to have the best, it's 18 volt little brother (half the price)is more than plenty.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.OutstandingBy Thomas G. MeyerAdded this to my collection of DeWalt tools. 36v is the only way to go! Have plenty of 18V products - 10 of them. Now, I have this and the impact driver in 36v. Big difference in power and length of time I can use a single battery!See all 3 customer reviews...
