This industrial-grade 18-volt tool was engineered to drive drywall and deck screws faster, more precisely, and for longer periods per battery charge than any similar screwdriver. The DC520KA is powered by an 18-volt XRP NiCad battery that provides longer life and extended-run time, so you’ll spend less time recharging batteries and more time fastening materials. Its variable-speed motor has two speed ranges: 0 to 900 RPM for driving long decking screws; and 0 to 2,900 RPM for driving drywall screws with production speed. The high-performance motor produces an impressive 180 inch-lbs. of torque, which is more than enough power to meet the daily demands of professional deck builders, carpenters, and drywall installers. And the depth-sensitive, set-and-forget nosepiece ensures that the fasteners are precisely driven to the correct depth each and every time. The DEWALT Drywall/Decking Screwdriver comes with two 18-volt XRP NiCad batteries, a fast one-hour charger, magnetic bit holder, two nosepieces (one drywall, one Teks for decking), and a plastic storage case. It’s backed by a DEWALT 90-day money-back guarantee, full one-year service contract, and three-year limited warranty.

Always being one to check/read customer reviews, for some years now I have gone with DeWalt 18v tools. Unlike some other brands that have some outstanding cordless tools and some not so good tools in their lines, DeWalt almost always gets good marks. So far, I have not been disappointed in either quality or performance as expected. DeWalt, as usual, has another cordless winner here. Having the same tool Mfg'r also means you can share the batteries and chargers. A couple of battery packs will drive drywall screws all day long. Owning several DeWalt 18v tools that were supplied with batteries and chargers, I did not need additional batteries; or chargers; or the kit boxes, so I opted to purchase the bare tool from one of Amazon's third party sellers, Max Tools, (DeWalt DC520B) for a substantial savings. The DC520KA is fast and efficient for driving screws. I have bad shoulders now so it is a bit heavy for overhead work for me (I use a DeWalt corded model), but certainly managable if you are an average homeowner or a pro and only want to use one drywall gun. The gun is pricey, but thats DeWalt for you and you tend to get what you pay for. If you're a homeowner that may do some serious drywalling once or twice in your lifetime, this package may be too expensive for your needs and a simple, cheaper corded model may be the way to go if $ is an issue. (See my review of the corded DeWalt DW272 screw gun as a possible option.)2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.Great ToolBy BobbyCAI originally bought this screwdriver for quick small jobs, which could save me a few extra minutes not having to get extension cords or in areas power has been temporarily turned off...Also, I liked that it was light weight... But I find myself going to it even on large drywall jobs and I recently completed a large redwood deck with it... Screwing into drywall is a no brainer for this gun, but I was concerned how well it would countersink screws into a redwood deck... To my suprise it did it well and very quick... I kept one battery on my charger and just rotated between them... The feel for the balance of this tool may take a use or two before you get comfortable with it, but if you use your middle finger for the trigger (index and thumb for support)you'll have very few issues of the bit sliding off your screws (and yes, I know that is kinda of a "duh" statement, but you'd be suprised how many people I see using their index finger on the trigger)...4 of 5 people found the following review helpful.Works well, bad ergonomicsBy Jason LedyardI must start by saying I'm a big fan of the DeWalt 18v line. There isn't much they make that I don't have. When I saw this was available, I thought it would be a great addition to the tool bag. That said, it's just too heavy for all day use. They batteries last, but my arm doesn't. I can't say for sure if it's the weight of the tool or the balance, but either way, it doesn't work well for me for all day use.It is a good tool for a few screws here or there. The motor is plenty powerful and the depth / clutch works well. I use it when I'm supervising a crew and am needed all over a job site. If I'm working in one location, I go with a traditional high-speed corded gun.See all 6 customer reviews...
