This 28-volt cordless system delivers the same cut quality and accuracy as a corded TrackSaw, and will cut over 150 feet (46 m) of 5/8-inch (16 mm) plywood on a single charge. Parallel plunge allows the user to maintain a smooth and constant hand position while cutting. A 40 tooth blade gives a fine and accurate finish with very little breakout in laminates. Rail adjustment allows the saw to be adjusted accurately to the rail. The anti kickback function stops the saw from moving backwards along the rail and helps stop the saw from climbing out of the work piece when making plunge cuts. The enclosed guard gives a 90% dust extraction capability.55 mm Depth of cut allows the trimming and sizing of most common door sizes. Exclusive Nano Phosphate Li-Ion battery pack provides 2000 charge cycles, more than double that of NiCd/NiMH packs. Battery pack produces 28 Volt power at equivalent weight to 14.4 Volt NiCd/NiMH pack weight

The only downside is you have to change the batteries frequently, fortunately the charger works fast. The saw cuts extremely clean and is a good alternative to a table saw.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful.Great saw, excellent batteriesBy stud seekerI'm a hobbyist woodworker and DIY'er. I've owned this saw for about 18 months. I think it is an excellent tool, and the kit is a great buy at the $300 price level. I love the fact it does not have a cord getting tangled up in the midst of making a long cut in sheet goods. The reviewer who complained about the unavailability of batteries is simply wrong. The two batteries that came with my saw are model DC9280. Google that DeWalt model and you'll find lots of them available. Moreover, I believe you can have the batteries rebuilt with new cells. Batteries Plus does it for most tool batteries, but I haven't asked them about this model specifically. If you're concerned about it, check it out. My batteries go longer on a charge than I anticipated, and they produce plenty of power when cutting. My kit came with the 59-inch track. I subsequently bought the 46-inch track and the connector so I could make a full 8 foot cut on sheet goods. I cannot recommend the connector set up. I wish I had spent the money on the 102-inch track instead. On the other hand, I highly recommend buying the track clamps. They work very well with the track and make it easy to secure it on long cuts.I also have the router adapter, but I cannot recommend it. I have been unable to get it to slide smoothly on the track in a perfectly straight line.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.Love this sawBy Michael GiacominFirst a few qualifiers. I have never used the Festool, so I cannot compare the two. However, I do use these tools professionally and have a lot of experience with Dewalt and the other professional cordless tool lines. In other words, we really use tools and beat the heck out of them in the process. As for the battery availability issue, I use a service that rebuilds them for me if I need it so I am not so concerned about this. However, I have not needed any track saw replacement batteries yet. I have three that I rotate through and I find to be the optimal amount. One in service, one ready on standby, while one is charging. Of course this is only true if you are doing a lot of continuous cutting. A homeowner or hobbyist could get by with just one or two. Now the review. I love this saw and if you work with sheet materials, especially away from the shop and on the job site, you will too. This saw makes beautiful and precise cuts and is far more portable than a job site table saw. You can even do things like take it on the roof to trim the roof sheathing panels if you need to. Try that with even a portable table saw! This saw goes to the work, rather than having to have the work go to the saw. It doesn't sound like much, but that can be a real time saver on the job and is really convenient. Especially since it usually eliminates the need for the job site table saw. I loved my lightweight Dewalt table saw, but now that I have this it gets far less use. This thing is great for cutting sheets of plywood, Melamie, or other sheet materials on the job site or in the shop. It is also good for precision cabinet making because the cuts are clean and splinter free, or for things like trimming the bottoms of doors which happens a lot in tile work. Just lay the track and cut. Fast, precise, simple, and clean. I have used it for all these things and am impressed with the results. I love this saw so much, I even bought the corded version for the home shop intending to reserve this one for use away from the shop. However, like most corded tools these days, I find that even at the shop I tend to pick up the cordless tools first, and that also includes the track saw. So the cordless gets to create the most dust, while the corded collects the most. Generally, I only use corded tools if I have no choice, which is rare thanks to all of the pro tool lines out there these days. I did buy several lengths of track to go with the saw. These tracks sure beat the old method of clamping a straight edge to a sheet of plywood and cutting with a circular saw. And even though I bought the track clamps to go with the tracks, I have never used them. The tracks use friction to grab the material and don't move at all while cutting. Just lay it to your marks and then cut. This is another nice time saver since you don't have to figure in distances from the saw edge to the blade. The track saw cuts along the edge of the track precisely so where you lay it, the saw cuts. The track doesn't move, there is no thought about where the cut will line up, and no wasted time to clamp or adjust the edge. It is very simple and convenient. When you have a lot to do, simple and convenient is always nice. This saw makes life more simple and convenient. There are several sizes of track available. While you can piece a couple of smaller ones together for longer cuts, I prefer having the long one for cutting 4x8 sheets lengthwise, and using shorter tracks for short cuts. Although, I have been in situations where the long track was convenient and I just grabbed it to make some short cuts. However, the long track is over 8 feet long, so if I am not going to cut 8 foot length cuts, I still find it more convenient to use the shorter tracks for short cuts. They are easier to carry around and move around the job site. If I know I don't need the long track on a particular job, I will leave it at home or at least in the truck. But for long cuts I prefer the one piece track to the linked track method. I would recommend having at least one long and one short track if you plan to do a lot of cutting. This is one of those tools that once you have used you wonder how you ever managed without it. I would not give up mine now and I highly recommend it.See all 5 customer reviews...
